Using Mobile Deposit
Though we are always happy to see you, we know life can get hectic. Sometimes, you just don’t have time to stop by the bank to see our smiling faces…we get it! With Mobile Deposit, you can deposit your checks in a snap (literally):
- Begin by endorsing the check with your name AND “For Mobile Deposit Only.” You may select the Mobile Deposit box on the back of the check if there is one available.
- Open your State Bank Mobile App. Not using Mobile Banking? Get started here.
- Select the Deposit icon and choose the account to make your deposit to. If you do not see the Deposit icon, please enroll for Mobile Deposit.
- Enter the amount, then take a photo of the front and back of the check. Tip: Make sure to photograph against a background that gives strong contrast and ensure the whole check is visible, in focus and well lit.
- Once both images have been captured, select next.
- Review and confirm your deposit.
That’s it! You can check the status of your deposit at any time. Statuses include: Pending, Failed and Accepted. We recommend you write a note on the original check reminding you that it has been deposited and then storing it for 90 days before safely destroying it.

Mobile Deposit FAQs
What is mobile deposit? Mobile deposit allows you to submit a photo of your check to make a deposit directly into your account using the State Bank Mobile App.
Is there a fee for mobile deposit? No, there is currently no fee for using mobile deposit. Message and data rates may apply. Check your carrier plan for details.
How do I sign up for mobile deposit? Once you start using State Bank’s Mobile App, you are eligible for mobile deposit by reading and agreeing to the terms and conditions. If you do not see the Deposit icon, please enroll for Mobile Deposit, or contact an e-banker who will be able to assist you.
What are the limits for using mobile deposit? The limits are $1500 per check and $2500 per day.
Do I still need to endorse the check when using mobile deposit? Yes! Please endorse the check by writing “For Mobile Deposit Only” followed by your signature on the back of the check. There may be a box already on the back that indicates “For Mobile Deposit Only”, if so, please mark that box along with your signature.
Do I need to use a deposit slip to make a deposit through Mobile Deposit? No, there is no need to use a deposit slip.
Is there a cut-off time for Mobile Deposit? Yes, deposits must be received by 3:00 pm, CST to post on the same day’s business. Deposits after 3:00 pm, CST will post on the next business day.
Do I need to keep the physical check if I deposit it through Mobile Deposit? Yes, please keep your deposited check for 90 calendar days. After 90 days, please properly dispose by shredding.
How does Mobile Deposit work? Just follow these simple steps!
- Begin by endorsing the check with your name AND “For Mobile Deposit Only.” You may select the Mobile Deposit box on the back of the check if there is one available.
- Open your State Bank Mobile App.
- Select the Deposit icon and choose the account to make your deposit to.
- Enter the amount, then take a photo of the front and back of the check. Photograph against a background that gives strong contrast and insure the whole check is visible, in focus and well lit.
- Once both images have been captured, select next.
- Review and confirm your deposit.
Can I deposit any type of check using Mobile Deposit? The following checks are not accepted via Mobile Deposit:
- Checks payable to any person or entity other than you
- Third party checks
- Checks written off any account that you own or you are a signer on
- Checks containing any alteration of which you know or believe to be fraudulent or not authorized by the owner of the account on which the check is drawn
- Checks containing any alteration of which you know or believe to be fraudulent or not authorized by the owner of the account on which the check is drawn
- Any checks that are not in original form with a signature, such as substitute checks or remotely created checks
- Foreign checks
- Checks drawn against a line of credit
Can I make a mobile deposit on a weekends or holidays? Yes, you can; however, note that deposits made on Saturday, Sunday and Federal holidays are processed as if made on the next business day following the weekend or holiday. Saturdays, Sundays, and Federal holidays are not considered business days for processing purposes, even if the bank may be open on those days.
How do I check the confirmation of my deposit? Once your check has been successfully submitted, you will get a confirmation on your screen. This only confirms that your deposit was submitted. Once the deposit has been reviewed and you want to check the status of your deposit, go to the mobile app, deposits and click on check deposit history. You will be able to tell if your check was accepted, pending or failed. If your check failed, it will be shown as a failed item in the history. You will receive a phone call from State Bank letting you know the reason why it failed so you can correct it and resubmit.
What could cause a Mobile Deposit to be rejected? A deposit could reject for any of the following:
- If the item is a duplicate.
- If all four corners of the check cannot be detected.
- If two images of the same side of the check are submitted instead of one image of the front and one image of the back.
- If the check image is out of focus.
- If the MICR line data on the bottom of the check cannot be recognized by the system.
- If the endorsement on the back of the check is missing or does not indicate “For Mobile Deposit Only”
- If the payee information on the check does not match the name of the account holder.
Can I deposit more than one check at a time? ach check must be submitted as an individual deposit. However, you are able to submit any number of checks as long as you don’t exceed the daily deposit limit of $2,500.
